The Smiley face badges are a quick reference guide for instructors in the club to categorise the groups. A badge will be given to a pupil when the instructor is confident that they can move to the next level
The Green badge is given to a pupil when they have shown they can stand and climb/step on skis, they must be able to negotiate the nursery slope with basic snowplough and plough turns. They must also be capable of completing the rope tow lift consistently.
The Blue badge is given to a pupil when they have negotiated the Poma lift from base to the half way point and are competent at using the lift independently. The pupil must be in total control skiing from halfway to the bottom starting to link snowplough turns and controlling their speed.
The Red badge is given to a pupil who has succeeded in travelling the Poma lift from bottom to top on regular occasions with no issues. They are 100% confident in controlled skiing from the top using either plough turns or parallel to maintain a safe speed to the bottom.
The Black badge is given to Lions race members only.
